After completing my tack and gaining right of way I did not change course. There was plenty of opportunity for you to tack away or take avoiding action. I had fully completed my tack and had been sailing on the new tack for three seconds before you sailed into my transom.

Hi Mellifera, did you take any avoiding action?

Dustym tacks very close to leeward of Mellifera, acquiring right of way when he reaches close hauled on starboard. R15 requires him to initially give Mellifera room to keep clear. Mellifera is required to take prompt action to keep clear but does not do so, so loses the protection of R15.

Because Mellifera takes no avoiding action, we will never know for sure whether he could have got clear although it is fairly clear he would have. He needed to luff slightly.

Mellifera breaks R11, spins to exonorate.
