Threads ARE NOT USUALLY open in this forum. To file a protest use ALWAYS the Protest Editor, if the protest references a saved race use the link provided in the Results/Replays option for that race. If the protest cannot be referenced by a racelet use the Editor from the Protest Room option, Thank you.

I think that james was wrong here. I couldn't KC and he broke rule 15....

System Info:LP17 was given a pen at t=12 (RE:Rule 16.1 - Changing course, room).    LP17 raised the P flag at=25.  LP17 span at t=21.

pen: protester
spin: protester

Hey LP!

Hope the exams and study is going well!

At T:12.7s when contact occurs, both boats are tacking and are both therefore subject to R13.

13 WHILE TACKING
After a boat passes head to wind, she shall keep clear of other boats
until she is on a close-hauled course. During that time rules 10, 11
and 12 do not apply. If two boats are subject to this rule at the same
time, the one on the other’s port side or the one astern shall keep
clear.

Because we are both subject to R13 at the same time (as seen in the screen shot above where we both have not reached CHC yet) the one on the other's port side shall keep clear.

So as stated in the rule, you being on my port side means you're at fault of breaking R13...the system never picks up R13 in these situations.

Thanks and Fair Sailing!

ok, but when I began my tack I could cross and there wouldn't be a contact.... That's the point IMO

Hi all.
You started the tack almost at the same time, so I would agree with James_S in this one.

So, LP17 breaks R13, spins to exonerate himself.
