I don't understand why IRL didn't allow me to go to the next mark.
Looking for a R11 for me?
I did the spin. He protested me.
R11, R44.2, R2?
System Info:lutxo was given a pen at t=167 (RE:Rule 11 - Overlapped, windward boat). lutxo raised the P flag at=170. lutxo span at t=187. IRL711 span at t=178.
pen: protester spin: protester

To comply with 44.2 I kept sailing on my close hauled course in order to clear all other boats and complete my penalty. I don't break any rules here lux.

You have a very original idea of the meaning of "getting well clear"
You continued with CHC while you was seeing me that I had to follow you to where? Noth Pole?
You had a lot of space below the line between the 2 marks, so, How could you explain luffing me up?

The rule states that "after getting well clear of other boats as soon after the incident as possible a boat takes a one-turn penalty." I was in the process of getting well clear when the collision occurred.
Also I didn't luff you, I continued on my course and you decided to bear down into me.

A boat must always get well clear of other boats.
Taking lutxo up when you have so much space below is not getting well clear of other boats and is close to a breach of R2.
You know better IRL...
Decision:
IRL711 breaks R31 and does not comply with R44.2 so gets a DSQ
lutxo breaks R11 & spins to exonerate.
Aloha!

I obviously don't know better Okole! If I did I wouldn't have done that in the first place and I would have tried to RAF the protest. Still learning!

All good! Sorry nothing bad meant, but after 2 years on sailx surely you should know by now how to comply with R44.2, surely?
Remember the requirements of many rules are in the words of the rules themselves.
Here R44.2 says "after getting well clear of other boats".
That means if you have a course available to you that gets you clear of other boats, you must take that course, not the course that continues to engage with other boats.
Continuing to engage with other boats is not getting clear.
If there were lots of boats to leeward of the marks, then yes you could claim you were getting clear ASAP by heading up on a CHC.
Aloha!
