SAILX.COM is an Internet environment for Sailing.

It was primarily created by active sailors, racers, as a trainning tool, something to help us to a better understanding of racing tactics and to provide a frame where discuss about rules.

Today it is a service for users,  it is a community (a social network in some sense) and  also an interactive game. We try to keep the same goal we had at the beginning and make it also fun and useful.

SAILX.COM is owned by a small company, Sistemas Tacticos SL. The company was founded by the same sailors that were using, coding and paying for the development of the software. It makes sense, as a company is one way to asure the future of the enviroment. Today 75% of the company is owned by those sailors (Catamaran sailors, by the way ....  nobody is perfect).

SAILX.COM is operated  by a bigger company:

United Games BV, based ind Netherlands and with presence in many countries.

The physical infrastructure (servers) is provided by different companies: Rimuhosting (New Zealand), Securedata (Canada), i3D (Germany).

SAILX.COM is payed by the users' subscriptions. Users don't have pay to get the standard services (sailing!) but a subscription lets them to access some extra functionality and allows the entry to some very specific events.

About the software we use for the simulation (TACTICAT) we've had some tecnical help by the Valencia Polithecnics University (Instituto de Tecnologia Informatica) and we got R&D funding from the European Union thru the FEDER programs.
