NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES & UMPIRING
1.1. The races will be governed by the current
Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), including Appendix D and the
SailX Sailing instructions.
1.2. For the initial phases of the event the races will not be umpired and the standard SailX protest procedure will be followed. The final phase races will be umpired.
2. CLASS
2.1. This regatta will only be sailed with SailX
Team Boats.
3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1. This is an OPEN event for all SailX registered teams and for all country official teams (those participating in Schull real-world event: USA, GBR, IRL, JPN, AUS, ITA, THA, ESP)
3.2. At least 3 competitors of each team MUST be subscribers
4. ENTRY
4.1. Teams completing a race in the designated venues will be automatically entered in the event for classification
4.2. SailX Groups option will be used for registered users to create new teams or enter in already created teams.
5. TEAMS
5.1. Each competing team shall consist of no less than 4 boats with the option of 2 Alternates. 6 in Total; sailors have the option to rotate as necessary with no restrictions.
5.2. Each team must elect a Captain and the nomination will be made public as a post in SailX team forum in order to coordinate schedules and activities.
6. FORMAT AND SCHEDULE OF RACES
6.1 Event will be run in three phases. Each match in the event will be run as a pre-agreed number of races (best of 3, best of 5, single race, etc.) between the two teams racing.
6.2. Preliminary Phase, July 25th-Aug 18th.
Free format racing, teams will race other teams in the designated venues with no official planned schedule. SailX-ELO scoring will be assigned to each participating team and an on-line classification will be build. A fixed ELO scoring will be assigned to all teams when entering.
6.3.
Restricted ELO races, August 19th-August 26th. Best 8 teams from preliminary phase and all official teams will race in free format mode during one week. SailX ELO scoring will be used, ranking from previous phase will not be reset.
6.4.
Finals, August 27th-September 3rd Best 4 teams will race semifinals and final. The races will be planned with a specified time and venue.
7. VENUE
7.1. Fields
X1 (Schull-1) , X2 (Schull-2), X1-euro (Schull-E1) and X2-euro (Schull-E2) will host the event races. The
euro fields will be hosted in European datacenters providing best connectivity to european sailors.
8. SUBSTITUTIONS
8.1. The original 3-6 Members of the Team may not be changed. Original user names is required.
9. COURSE
9.1. Course diagrams will be provided in the Sailing Instructions.
10. SCORING
10.1. In accordance with Appendix D, except as modified by the Sailing Instructions.
11. PRIZES
11.1. Schull 2011 Organising Committee will provide prizes for the best 3 classified teams.
